How do I care for crowns and fillings?

Caring for your dental work starts with the same habits that protect your natural teeth. Brush at least twice a day and floss once daily to remove plaque around restorations and along the gumline.

A crown or bridge cannot get a cavity, but the natural tooth structure underneath it can. That is why hygiene at home is just as important after restorative work as it was before.

Schedule exams and teeth cleanings every six months at Hawaiian Island Dental. At each visit, Dr. Jaurequi and our hygienist check the condition of your existing crowns, bridges, and fillings, and look for early signs of cavities or gum disease.

If you are unsure about your brushing or flossing technique, ask our hygienist — she is happy to demonstrate the proper approach.
